Suffolk, England
Located in a coastal village in Suffolk, this house was recently completed for an Anglo-American family. Following a stringent design review process to maintain the vocabulary of the local architecture, the aesthetic merges the vernacular tradition with a current sensibility. Reclaimed materials including roof and floor tiles, barn timbers, and restored fixtures are incorporated into the contemporary plan. Window placement takes advantage of summer breezes off the North Sea and a geothermal system with radiant floor heating conditions the house in the winter months.
